What Matters Most - Speed or Longevity?
Let’s chat further about the long game…and particularly the book Leading on Empty by Wayne Cordeiro.
In my March Wellness Studio, we plan to incorporate the book alongside working on our wellness physically, mentally and emotionally. In an effort to ensure I’m digesting the details - I’ve had the chance to start diving in and preparing content. And the takeaways thus far have been TREMENDOUSLY powerful. While the book is based mostly on ministry, it's an incredible story from a pastor that shares all about his road to burnout and how he builds himself back up to feeling better from the inside out.
My favorite takeaway so far…
“Be willing to give up the thrill of speed and advance for safety and longevity.”
Can we digest this for a minute? If we apply this thought process to our work life, our home life, our parenting life, our life in general - how TRUE is this statement and how HARD is it to embrace!?
We all want the quick fixes. The fast track. The road that gets us from A to our GOALS as fast as possible. We all crave the speed of “success” as dictated by the fast-paced, technology driven, instant gratification world we live in.
But in the end - does the idea of trying to keep that pace, focus on that pace and embrace that pace truly offer us longevity when it comes to WHOLE wellness and a sense of peace, contentment and fulfillment from the inside out?
I'm not so sure.
And it's something I'm working hard to explore in my own life.
While simultaneously leading others to do the same.
These are the kinds of things we plan to digest and talk about. Inside my wellness community, I am working on my journey alongside each and every person that joins me. My goal as a coach, wife, mom and woman is to help empower other women to know they’re NEVER alone when it comes to the growth and failing forward process.
So I’m curious - what matters most to you when it comes to wellness?! The thrill of speed or longevity?!
