When The Good is Buried

Last week, I shared about one of my biggest struggles at the moment. I’ve been focusing WAY TOO MUCH on the negative in my life and it’s starting to take a toll on me.

All the things I can’t control. All the unresponsiveness. All the things I want to do but haven’t done yet.

I’ve been letting the negative feelings takeover and when that happens, I know I need a gut check.

When sharing my heart, I asked for help and the people that follow our journey offered these 20 amazing ideas on how to shift your focus.

I hope this list offers you encouragement and some ideas on how to refocus on the little things that matter:

  1. Start Gratitude Journaling.

  2. Dive into Mel Robbin’s Mindset Rest or 5 Second Rule Journal.

  3. Find a good friend to confide in. Outside perspective can make a world of difference.

  4. Make a list of your accomplishments. Focus on what you’ve done.

  5. Take a bath, have a good cry, reflect and pledge to get back up and do your best tomorrow.

  6. Stop and ask yourself if your thoughts are helping or hurting the situation? If not - is it worth it?

  7. Listen to Worship Music.

  8. Rachel Hollis Start Today Journal.

  9. Listen to the poem “She Let Go” by Safire Rose.

  10. Remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV)

  11. Choose to be still and make the choice to embrace the messiness. Don’t fight it.

  12. Remind yourself that you’re human and life isn’t perfect.

  13. Play with your little ones and allow them to fill your heart with innocence and gratitude.

  14. Call your parents or someone you respect and get their feedback.

  15. Take breaks with your family as necessary. Go somewhere that sparks happiness.

  16. Read the book FIND REST.

  17. Listen to your favorite music and go for a long drive.

  18. Practice meditation, detox from electronics and shut down your mind.

  19. Take deep breathes and get OUTSIDE! Fresh air does wonders for your soul.

  20. Let GO and Let God. Pray.

I think what warmed my heart even more than this list was how people came together and offered their words of encouragement. I don’t know about you - but there are times when I feel so buried by life and the day to day grind that I wonder where everyone else is and what everyone else is doing.

It’s incredibly powerful when we STOP and offer our support to others. Never underestimate the power of your perspective and your words for helping someone else.

As I continue along my journey of getting back to a place of an attitude of gratitude - I’d love to invite you to join me within our next wellness group! We start Monday, 5/13 and we’ll be working hard on our wellness - from the inside out - with gratitude journaling at the forefront.

Perspective is everything and it’s moments like this when community can lift you up more than anything else.

Complete this survey ASAP if you’re ready to join our group on Monday, 5/13. We would love to have you!
