Discipline over Regret

Imagine this for a minute...

What if we lived in a world where it ALL came easy?! Where you snapped your fingers and all your wishes came true?!

Oh - you want to be rich? Done.
You want to retire early? No problem.
You want to lose 20 pounds? Check!
You want a new house? Bought.
You want to be a doctor? Your wish is my command.

Can you take a second with me and truly imagine what that life would be like...and WHAT on earth we would LEARN with a life like that?!

Here’s our reality - we live in a world that wants it all. And wants it NOW. But sometimes I can’t help but think about all the valuable lessons we’re missing when we focus on the NOW vs. the PROCESS.

If the only feelings or lessons we’re learning stem from the dopamine rush of instant gratification - HOW are we learning how to teach future generations that LIFE IS HARD?!

Where’s the discipline?
Where’s the grit?
Where’s the deep, dirty, exhausting EFFORT?

We know this - but we still complain about it. Whether we want to believe it or not, EVERY aspect of life takes work. A LOT of it.

Jobs take work.
School takes work.
Marriages take work.
Friendships take work.
Weight loss takes work.
Building a business takes work.
LIFE. TAKES. WORK.

Here’s the message today... ⤵️

Make it a goal to STOP dismissing the value of the lessons when things get HARD. STOP quitting before you even get started. It’s completely unfair to the people around you, but more importantly - it’s completely unfair to YOURSELF.

One of my BIGGEST goals as a parent is teaching my kids that things DON’T come easy. So WHY do I allow myself to get frustrated when the HARD shows up in my own life?

Well, because I’m human. And I’m a product of our society. I want it NOW and if it’s not perfect or not fast enough - maybe it’s not worth it...?

WRONG, sister. The HARD is how we evolve. It’s how we grow and change. The HARD makes life WORTH IT because it helps us understand the VALUE of working for the things we really want.

Will you EMBRACE the HARD with me this year? It won’t be easy...but the lessons we’ll gain for OURSELVES and OUR FUTURE will be 💯% worth it!
