Creating an IMPACT Board

I created a post about this in year’s past - but this year, I want to call to our attention as we kick off 2021.

Set BIG, SCARY Goals! - they said

Yes! Those things are incredibly important as we work towards new goals, new dreams and beyond. In the same breath, I’m in the camp of always working to celebrate the WINS along the way too.

When you shift gears towards IMPACT and focus on all the things you ARE doing vs. all the things you’re still working towards, it keeps your mindset in a state of gratitude (which is essential when it comes to working towards your goals).

No matter how the year started, take some time to reflect on where you’er at. Maybe you crushed some of your new years resolutions. Maybe you feel like you’ve fallen short. Maybe you’re finding yourself having to re-evaluate and start over in some ways.

Whatever the case - GET IT INTO YOUR HEAD that focusing on the things you ARE doing is the only mindset you deserve!

I think it’s easy for all of us to get one unhappy customer email, one cancellation, one missed goal, one misinterpreted mission and our entire focus feels off…

Let this be your reminder that YOU have the power to choose and shift your focus on the IMPACT and the truth behind the work you do. Day in and day out - you’re making hundreds of moves, decisions and choices that positively impact your life and the lives around you. Don’t discount celebrating the little things that add up to big results!

If you’re a visual person like me - here are my 3 best tips for creating an IMPACT Board:

  1. Find a good pinboard (there are plenty at Target, Home Goods, Amazon and beyond!)

  2. Take some time to reflect week by week on the positive. What emails did you receive? Any letters in the mail? Any texts you want to save? Powerful quotes that you saw or that were shared with you? Make a list.

  3. Then - get to work with printing, coloring, drawing and creating reminders of those things. Fill the board with all of the notes you find, thank you letters, pictures from your kids, accolades, positive emails/messages, favorite quotes and things that show you where and how your hard work has paid off.

At the end of the day - our faith in the process, the things we ARE doing and the IMPACT we make are what matter most. Be PROUD of yourself of the IMPACT we’re making, friends! It’s something I’m always working on.
